One issue coming into this season was the lack of depth in the Chelsea first team.
Antonio Conte only used Willian, Batshuayi, Zouma, and Fabregas in the majority of games last season from the substitutes bench.
But with several players returning from loan and new signings incoming, the bench will be full of hot prospects and quality players for next seasons title defence.
Courtois will be the obvious starter in between the sticks and the new addition of Willy Caballero giving a back up option.
In defense, Cahill and Luiz had their shaky moments last term, and that will only get worse with more games to play, with Champions League being secured for next season. Depth will be added with the return of Danish centre back Andreas Christensen, who impressed in his two-year loan spell at Borussia Moechengladbach. A potential new signing with Virgil Van Dijk, Leonardo Bonucci, and Kostas Manolas all linked with the club. At wing-back, a world record fee for Brazilian wing back Alex Sandro looks nailed to compete with Marcos Alonso, who had an impressive debut season with Chelsea.
On the other side, Cesar Azpilicueta could be pushed back to his former position on the right, with Victor Moses coming off the bench, due to the infiltration of central defenders. In the centre of the park, N’Golo Kante looks likely keep his spot after having another outstanding season, but Nemanja Matic looks likely to be moved onto Manchester United for a rumoured £40 million. Frenchman Tiemoué Bakayoko looks to be on his way to London for £35 million, with Cesc Fabregas and Chalobah as the other midfielders.
Manager Antonio Conte does not rule out another central midfielder with Marco Verratti and Radja Naingollan both longshots, but linked with the club in recent weeks.
In the forward role, star man Eden Hazard will miss the start of the season with an ankle injury, and Charly Musonda could be the replacement in the early stages of next season, or Pedro being shifted to the left. On the other wing Pedro or Willian will likely be subject to rotation. However the central role is less clear, with Diego Costa trying to be shipped out, and Batshuayi’s future uncertain.
Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, and Andrea Bellotti have all been linked to the club with hefty price tags attached to them.
With a group of world-class players, manager, and loads of money, Chelsea will look to improve on a fantastic season.
