Following the 8-2 trashing of Fulham at Cobham, the first real pre season test for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea came in the form of familiar foes that is Arsenal. Having lost to the same team in the FA Cup final, the Blues players definitely wanted to get one over their London rivals.
Here are our player ratings following Chelsea’s 3-0 win at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing.
Thibaut Courtois : 8/10
Had little to do in the first half but was ready as usual when called upon. Commanded the back line with authority and played out the back impressively under pressure.
Gary Cahill : 6/10
Gave away the ball too often whilst trying to play out the back and was caught ball watching on numerous occasions. Seemed a bit rusty but performance levels should improve with more game time.
David Luiz : 6/10
Not an eye catching performance from the Brazilian defender as he seemed a bit off. Gave away fouls at dangerous areas and was also caught ball watching.
Cesar Azpilicueta :8/10
Solid performance from the Spaniard as usual. Linked play well with the final third and was just as effective defensively.
Victor Moses : 9/10
An impressive performance from the Nigerian wing back, a constant threat going forward and just as impressive with his defensive work.
Marcos Alonso : 7/10
Reliable as usual but burnt for pace on particular occasions, notched a brilliant assist to set up Chelsea’s third.
Cesc Fabregas: 9/10
Put in solid work going forward as well as protecting the back three. A typical Fabregas masterclass as he engaged in spraying long range passes which took out the opposition.
Ngolo Kante : 8/10
A solid performance from the player of the year, won possession back on countless occasions and set up Batshuayi’s first goal.
An impressive showing by the Brazilian , further calmed the nerves by scoring the opener.
Michy Batshuayi: 9.5/10
A true man of the match performance by the Chelsea striker. Led the line brilliantly and capped off his fine performance with two well taken goals.
Unfortunately got injured in the opening stages but showed glimpses of his undoubted ability before going off.
Jeremie Boga : 9/10
A constant threat after been brought on to replace Pedro during the opening stages of the game. Pushed forward impressively whilst utilising his quick feet and trickery.
Willy Caballero :7/10
A solid showing by the new Chelsea stopper. Impressive with his feet and made some impressive saves. A solid back up for the blues going into the season.
Electric going forward and decent at the back , surely impressed with the few minutes he got.
Loic Remy : 5/10
Played like a man that knows his days at the club are numbered. Typically caught offside on a few occasions.
Other subs included: Kalas, Christensen, Kyle Scott, Pasalic, Kenedy and Lewis Baker.
