Ahead of our match in the Community Shield against bitter rivals Arsenal, which is 3 days away, there is still one thing that is on the mind of just about every Chelsea fan out there – transfers. Blues fans have rightfully been pointing out our serious lack of depth and reinforcements ahead of this years campaign, and many of them are already in panic mode. Despite the fact we have brought in players like Morata, Bakayoko and Rudiger, which are significant upgrades, they have done little, if anything, to placate the Chelsea faithful.
Unfortunately, the lack of desire shown by the board so far has culminated in rising conflicts and tensions among supporters as well. On various social media platforms it is plain to see the significant increase of hostile posts toward the Chelsea board, staff, players and even amongst each other. The fans are, understandably, growing impatient and want to see more signings completed before the end of the transfer window. However, i think it’s high time that all of us take a step back and try to look at the situation with a cool head.
With the exception of Diego Costa and Matic, no other first team player has left the club and we’ve brought in 3 top replacements, all who will make our team even more deadly than the one that won the title last year. Admittedly, the LWB and RWB positions have been picked out as our ‘weak spots’, leading the club to enter the race to sign players like Alex Sandro and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. While these players would undoubtedly improve our squad, let’s not be so quick to turn our backs on Victor Moses and Marcos Alosno, arguably the best players in the league last season in those positions. Even if they were both to remain in the first team, Chelsea would definitely still pose a threat to any rival out there.
With Antonio Conte at the helm, we’ve already witnessed the magic the Italian tactician can do with just about any player, his passion and commitment unlike the Premier League has seen in a very long time. With the Community Shield 3 days away and the start of the Premier League only 8 days away, it’s time we once again unite and get behind the team as we still have a squad more than capable of challenging for all trophies this season.
Transfers and board issues will be sorted out, it’s time for us to go get more trophies!
