Diego Costa confirmed in his statement that he wants to quit Chelsea after three seasons and join only his former club Atletico Madrid, where he played 134 matches and scored 64 goals.
Costa hasn’t been in training for a longer time despite Chelsea’s request to return to training. He is currently in Brazil on holidays, where he released a statement and made it clear that he doesn’t want to return to the Stamford Bridge. The 28-year-old Spanish international isn’t in the plans of Antonio Conte, who said in a press conference, the decision to sell Costa was already made in January. The “Blues” are prepared to listen to offers over £40m, but Atletico offered “only” £26m earlier in the summer reports “The Telegraph”. He expects that his future will soon be resolved as the “Blancos” are the only option for him. Diego Simeone is keen to bring back his former striker and Atletico Madrid are confident that they can reduce the price-tag of £40m so that a deal can be completed. But for now, there is nothing concrete on the table.
“My destination is already made. I must return to Atletico Madrid.”
“It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me. But I believe that this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain.”
