Inter Milan appear ready to sell Antonio Candreva for a fee of £25m according to Daily Mirror. Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Italian international and the player is said to be interested to work under the former Italy national coach. Chelsea tried last summer to bring him to the Stamford Bridge but Lazio deemed Chelsea’s bid to be unacceptable.
Although Candreva does not really fit into the transfer policy of Chelsea since he is 30; the Chelsea board appear to be backing Conte and are pushing to sign one of his top targets. The 47-year-old Italian has received constant reassurance that the Club is working hard in the market as they close in on several targets.
Candreva only joined Inter Milan from Lazio last summer for €22m. Last season, he impressed with 6 goals and 11 assists in 38 matches in the league. He can play as right-wing, competing alongside Willian and Pedro or as right-wing-back, providing stern competition for Victor Moses. The potential signing of Candreva will fulfil the necessary task of providing depth to the squad. Inter have been reluctant to sell Candreva throughout the summer since it looked like Ivan Perisic would be joining Manchester United. However, with Perisic likely remaining at Inter, Candreva to Chelsea looks more likely.
