After Chelsea drew 0-0 against Arsenal, after a disappointing performance, we were almost lucky to get a point. I am going to try and take the positives out of this performance, see who played well and what we can expect for Nottingham Forest. Whilst you are here, check out the match review and also the ‘In the Stands’.

Courtois-8:

Made some very good saves early on, including a low shot from Lacazette and a strike from Kolasinac on the edge of the box. Kept us in the game earlier on and was unfortunately involved in many back passes…

Azpilicueta-7:

Azpilicueta again had a strong game showing what a vice-captain he is, and also how he should and could easily be our club captain. Made important tackles defended very well.

Cahill-4:

A certain surprise it was seeing Cahill replace Rudiger, especially how well Rudiger has played this season and has adapted to the Premier League so quickly. Made a couple mistakes, but didn’t stand out either. Made a lot of back passes and didn’t want to push forward.

Luiz-6:

Until his red card, had a decent game making important interceptions to stop shots going on target. Was also the only defender trying to push forward and create an attack. However, this backfired and when attempting to run forward, got caught out and without a doubt made a red card offence. His performance was overlooked by the red card.

Moses and Alonso-5:

I have put these two together because I felt they both had similar games. Arsenal was disciplined meaning our wing-backs weren’t as influential, as normal. Both were frustrating with misplaced crosses and not providing Morata with adequate service.

Fabregas-5:

Was also another one who shocked us, having started this game. Fabregas was definitely one of the worst players on the pitch, especially when he was in a two-man midfield with Kante. But when Bakayoko came in, he looked as if he got some freedom and attempted to make his traditional passes. Hopefully, he doesn’t play in a two-man midfield again…

Kante-6:

Again a decent performance from him, making some unbelievable tackles and breaking down many Arsenal counter-attacks. However, I have given a low rating because his performance wasn’t as good as previous ones and didn’t look as sharp today. Not great that he was one of our better players today…

Willian and Pedro-4:

Both players had shocking games, especially according to their standards. Didn’t supply enough for Morata and were not making runs behind the defenders like they normally do. Pedro missed an easy one-on-one which he attempted to chip but was saved by Cech. Should have scored that chance and would have taken us into the lead.

Morata-6:

First two minutes of the game he looked lively and hungry to play, was chasing down the balls but unfortunately he couldn’t make anything out of the 90 mins. Didn’t have many chances but didn’t create any either, and was slightly bullied by the Arsenal defenders.

Substitutes:

Bakayoko-8:

Bakayoko came on for Pedro at half time, after Pedro’s slight knock, but had an unbelievable second half making forward runs and using his physical ability to win the ball back very well. Impressive half from him and can expect a good season from him.

Hazard-7:

Hazard came on in the 70th minute, but myself and many other Chelsea fans believed he should have come on earlier, especially as he brought on a bit of light and spark to the match, receiving 3 fouls, which was the most the Chelsea player had received, and he only played for 20 minutes. Hopefully, he can start against Nottingham Forest and get back in form as soon as possible!

Christensen-N/A:

Christensen only got 5 minutes of the match but should experience a lot more action over the next three matches, especially with David Luiz absent. This is really one of the only positives to take out of the match today…
