Chelsea have finally announced Diego Costa’s departure to his beloved Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard will have a medical in Spain in the next few days, with the move expected to be completed in January.
Diego Costa hasn’t played for Chelsea since the FA Cup Final last season, and has spent most of his time away from Chelsea at his native Brazil.
The 28-year-old cannot be registered as a player for the La Liga outfit until January, when the club’s transfer window ban comes to an end. The two teams play each other next Wednesday in the Champions League.
Costa joined Chelsea 3 years ago for a reported £32 million, and turned out to be one of our most successful ever strikers, scoring 58 goals in 120 appearances, including 20 in the Premier League last season as Chelsea won the title.
I will never forget his world class performance against Manchester City away last season. He showed his true class as a complete forward with fantastic hold up play, bringing other players in and his true finesse.
Not only us as Chelsea fans but the Premier League will miss such a unique character, someone that will never be replaced. Farewell, Diego!
