Chelsea are interested in 26-year-old Ivorian midfielder, Jean Seri of OGC Nice, according to The Guardian.
The Ivorian has always had an ambition to play in the Champions League and following Nice’s elimination, at the hands of Napoli, in the Champions League play offs, it looked set he would be departing the French club. A transfer to Barcelona seemed to be inevitable but broke down at the final stage and the Catalans opted for Paulinho from Guangzhou.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton are all interested in signing Nice’s Jean Seri next month. Ivory Coast midfielder came close to joining Barcelona in summer but now available for around £25m

Negotiations with Seri will be difficult especially as the player has a number of suitors. £25 million is reportedly the fee required to lure the Ivorian’s services which is a bargain in today’s inflated market but this brings staunch competition as a consequence.
In the Premier League, City, Everton and Arsenal are set to be interested. City are looking for a long-term replacement who would replace Yaya Toure, who is set to leave at the end of the season. Everton have ambitious plans moving forward and Seri would be an upgrade. Arsenal were interested during the summer and are expected to renew their interest. Chelsea will not just face domestic competition but European giants will be monitoring any development.
