Chelsea have offered Courtois a contract to become the best-paid goalkeeper in the world, according to The Telegraph.
Currently, David de Gea is earning the most for a goalkeeper at £200,000 a week, but Courtois would receive more including bonuses if he was to sign the contract which could run until 2023.
Chelsea have taken their interest of other goalkeepers including Jack Butland on hold, as they try to secure Courtois’ contract, which the board are becoming increasingly optimistic of.
Real Madrid have recently been interested in Kepa Arrizabalaga, and this has increased hope that Courtois will be persuaded to stay at Chelsea and to sign the contract.
Courtois has previously made it clear that he eventually does want to return to Spain, but that may not be an option for him if Real Madrid was to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Courtois rejected Chelsea’s first offer of a contract in May, but Chelsea have come back with a new proposal that they believe is too good to turn down.
Antonio Conte clearly would love to keep Courtois at the club, as he has said that Chelsea would lose one of the best keepers in the world if he was to leave the club.
