Chelsea have had a fair share of decent combinations in recent years however one partnership that has formed this season already, is about to break a club record.
Cesar Azpilicueta has assisted Alvaro Morata six times this season already and we are only at the end of December. For a defender to an attacker, that is simply incredible.
Their record is currently tied with the Chelsea’s club record which is now a three-way tie. The first being recorded back in 2009/10 with Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba partnering up, but more recently, in the winning season of 2014/15, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa managed to combine six times.
But with the season only just passed its half way point, the record could be smashed come the end of the season.
But the Daily Mail are reporting that they could even break the Premier League record as the current tally is at nine which was achieved by Mike Newell and Alan Shearer at Blackburn Rovers, and also Stan Collymore and Robbie Fowler in their time at Liverpool.
That record hasn’t been beaten in 22 years, and the Chelsea and Spanish pair could surpass that quite comfortably, considering they are only three behind.
They are becoming a force within the league and with the Spanish connection getting so strong so early, it can only get better.
