Since arriving to Chelsea in the summer, Alvaro Morata has formed a formidable partnership with fellow countryman Cesar Azpilicueta in their short time together at Chelsea.
The pair recently matched the club’s record for their partnership in front of goal. Azpilicueta has assisted the 25-year-old six times already this season and now they are only three behind the Premier League record.
The Spanish pair equalled the record against Brighton on Boxing Day after Alvaro Morata headed home inside the opening minute of the second half.
Speaking to the Official Chelsea Website on the win at home to the Seagulls, Morata was quick to praise his Spanish compatriot.
“It’s great to be playing here at Chelsea and playing with Cesar. He is an exceptional person and an exceptional player. We worked well in the second half to earn the win.”
Having moved from Spain for a club-record fee, Morata has lived up to his price tag after netting nine times already this season.
Chelsea face Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, a fixture which Morata clinched his first Blues hat-trick in the reverse game at the bet365 stadium.
Let’s hope it is a repeat performance of that 4-0 win!
