Chelsea target Giorgio Chiellini is set to snub any advances from former manager Antonio Conte, by signing a new contract at Juventus, according to The Metro.

Chiellini, now 33, has six months left on his contract and has been at Juventus since 2005, making 346 league appearances. He was a constant feature in Antonio Conte’s Juve sides between 2011 and 2014 – helping the Old Lady to a famous undefeated season in Conte’s first campaign.

It appears that Chiellini would have been the replacement for David Luiz. The Brazilian’s future has been uncertain for around two months following his omission from the squad against Manchester United in November.

Nothing is official until it’s signed but when speaking to Sky Italia, Chiellini described that Juventus feels like a family and that he couldn’t feel better. This comes as a bitter blow for Antonio Conte who is keen to bolster Chelsea’s squad in January, in order to remain competitive in all competitions during the second half of the season.
