Chelsea have managed to extend three contracts ahead of the January transfer deadline as they look to complete a deal for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez.

It’s been a busy month for Chelsea which has seen seven players arrive at Stamford Bridge, taking the January spending to in excess of £180 million.

Fernandez is wanted and Chelsea remain locked in talks with Benfica over a deal but are running out of time for the 22-year-old, who has a €120 million release clause.

However, Chelsea are working on keeping several players at the club, including first-team stars N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount, while Jorginho is out of contract this summer and yet to extend.

The club have been working on keeping several academy stars following a fear of a youth exodus this summer.

Despite Jude Soonsup-Bell looking set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur before the deadline after a deal was agreed between the London clubs ahead of the 19-year-old’s contract expiring this summer.

It has now been officially confirmed by Chelsea, having it looked increasingly likely that he’d depart, Charlie Webster has agreed a new deal at Stamford Bridge until June 2024.

It’s reported by ChelseaYouth that there are ongoing discussions over Webster’s next steps, which include loan move for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Ronnie Stutter has also extended until 2024, while U18s midfielder Harrison McMahon has signed his first professional contract until 2025.
