Chelsea reach agreement with Mauricio Pochettino – contract & announcement date revealed
Chelsea have agreed terms with Mauricio Pochettino to become the club’s next head coach.
After extensive talks with the 51-year-old, over a month after beginning the search to replace Graham Potter, Chelsea have reached an agreement with the former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss to take over at Stamford Bridge next season.
Following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, an agreement, as reported by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, has been reached and his appointment is imminent.
It’s reported that the contract will be signed in the coming days and an announcement of the Argentine’s arrival will follow shortly after, seeing him become the next permanent head coach once the 2022/23 season concludes.
David Ornstein confirms that Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and son Sebastiano Pochettino are all set to join him at Stamford Bridge as his backroom team.
Fabrizio Romano adds that despite Pochettino not starting until the summer, he will begin speaking with the club over the transfer strategy immediately.
Pochettino will become the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership’s third permanent boss since their takeover in May 2022 following the departures of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.
The Argentine has a huge job on his hands this summer as they look to trim their bloated 30-plus man squad, with many futures needing to be decided ahead of a planned squad overhaul.
