Chelsea are looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Borussia Dortmund against Southampton this weekend in the Premier League.

Graham Potter’s side fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Round of 16 Champions League tie, bringing an end to their four game (W1, D3) unbeaten streak.

Countless missed chances were punished by the Bundesliga outfit, who broke away from a Chelsea corner in Germany which saw Karim Adeyemi round Kepa Arrizabalaga to tap into an empty net from close range.

Chelsea will be hoping to get back to winning ways, as well as finding the net – something they have found difficult to do this season – against a managerless Southampton side, who sacked Nathan Jones after just four months in charge.

A shock defeat on Saturday will increase the pressure on the Chelsea side, who will be desperate to get a win on the board to increase confidence, with Potter still fully supported by the squad and hierarchy.

Here is all the information for the league encounter:

Chelsea team news to face Southampton

Ben Chilwell started against Dortmund in midweek and came off during the second half as he stepped up his return to full fitness. Raheem Sterling missed the trip due to injury, but the pair are in a ‘good place’ to be involved.

“It’s positive,” Potter responded on the pair’s fitness. “We are going to train later (on Friday afternoon). Providing they come through that okay, good chance they’ll be in squad.”

Benoit Badiashile is available again after being ineligible for the European clash.

Wesley Fofana, Mateo Kovacic and Denis Zakaria made the squad on Wednesday night and likely to be again on Saturday.

Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja are all set to still be sidelined for the Blues.

Reece James is among those being rested, according to reports. Click here for the full story.
