Christian Pulisic has been tipped to leave Chelsea this summer should they look to acquire other forwards to bolster their attacking line.

The 24-year-old’s future is uncertain at Chelsea at the end of the season, with Graham Potter’s side looking to trim their 30-plus man squad to ease the numbers in the first-team group.

Many players are approaching the final year of their contract at Stamford Bridge, Pulisic included, with respective deals expiring at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea’s new owners, who have been in charge for almost a year now, have made the contractual decision to ensure players don’t enter the final 12 months of their deal.

Pulisic attracted interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United in the January transfer window, but Chelsea kept hold of the USMNT star due to him picking up a knee injury against Manchester City at the beginning of January which scuppered a transfer away.

“No chance (of Pulisic leaving), no,” said head coach Graham Potter in January. “There was never any consideration of anything about that anyway but he’s a couple of months.

“He’s disappointed but he’s optimistic that he can come back quicker than the two months so he’s in that phase where he’s just trying to keep his fingers crossed and hopefully his rehab goes well.”

Pulisic has made 24 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this term, scoring one and contributing two assists.

His full focus is on finishing the current season out with Chelsea still hopeful of finishing inside the Premier League top four and strongly in the Champions League.

“Right now I’m absolutely back at Chelsea,” Pulisic told the Indirect Podcast. “Focused and ready to finish the season.

“But you know how things work in football. Things change quickly and anything can happen. At the moment, I am just pushing myself in training and working at Chelsea because that’s where I am right now.”

Pulisic, among many others, will have their futures decided at the end of the season. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has tipped the American to depart after four years at the club following his 2019 switch from Borussia Dortmund.

“Chelsea buy players like they are sweets so I can see players leaving in the summer,” Di Marzio told MyBettingSites. “Players will need to leave if they are to buy other forwards and strikers.”

“It’s very easy to imagine that Christian Pulisic will leave in the summer. I think he will but I don´t know which club he could go to. I would love to see him in Italy and that could definitely be an option for him.”

As reported by Nizaar Kinsella, Chelsea are planning a clear-out to reduce their squad to a typical 25-man group, with Pulisic among those at risk of leaving.
