Christopher Nkunku has appeared to say goodbye to RB Leipzig ahead of his summer transfer to Chelsea.

The 25-year-old’s 2022/23 club season with RB Leipzig has now concluded after they won the DFB-Pokal on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, which Nkunku netted the opener in.

Nkunku finished the season with 23 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions, but will now make the switch to England this summer to join Chelsea.

An agreement was reached in the early parts of the 2022/23 campaign between the two clubs, which will see Chelsea pay in excess of his €60 million release clause after the France international underwent medical tests last summer.

Chelsea are yet to formally announce Nkunku’s arrival, who will become newly-appointed head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing of the summer.

After the end of his club campaign, Nkunku took to Instagram to share a video. It appeared he was saying goodbye, captioning the post with: “So good to have shared these moments with you all.”

One user wrote: “HIS GOODBYE POST HERE WE GO HES COMING TO CHELSEA”. While another penned: “Leipzig, thank you so much for creating a star, We’ll take good care of him.”

Nkunku is set to be part of an attacking and squad overhaul at Stamford Bridge. Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will all be allowed to leave, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Romelu Lukaku will hold talks over their futures.
