Christopher Vivell is one step away from being confirmed as a technical director at Chelsea after he signed his long-term contract, according to reports.

After leaving RB Leipzig in October, his move to Chelsea looked to be edging closer but it has taken some time for the formalities to be completed.

Co-owner Todd Boehly has been at the heart of the recruitment rebuild which has seen him turn to Vivell, who will join the growing team which has seen Laurence Stewart, Paul Winstanley and Joe Shields all arrive.

Vivell’s arrival was just a matter of when, not if, and The Telegraph reported that Vivell clinched clearance to work in England, ticking off another of the final formalities before an announcement could be made.

Sky Germany now reports that after the clearance was given, Vivell has now signed all of the necessary documents which sees him pen a long-term contract in west London.

When Vivell will be announced by the club and how long his contract is remains unknown, but Boehly has got another one of his targets off the field which will help the Blues build and back head coach Graham Potter on the pitch.

The recruitment team has been meeting in Dubai over the World Cup break for talks, which likely would have included discussing potential signings for the January transfer window.

One signing Chelsea are closing in on is the arrival of David Datro Fofana from Molde, with personal terms now being discussed with the forward to get a deal over the line.
