Graham Potter could be without up to nine Chelsea players for their Premier League clash against Leicester City.

Chelsea are looking to make it three wins in a row in all competitions when they head to the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Potter’s side clinched crucial victories over Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund in the last week to ease the mounting pressure which was building around the club following a dismal run of results since October.

It’s been a tough period for the Blues but Potter believes his side will be better for it, claiming it was a chance for the squad to grow individually and as a team.

Ahead of the game, the 47-year-old admitted: “We’re in this to compete and the whole point of everything is to win. That’s not to say you can do it all of the time but absolutely it’s better if you win, that’s a fact. I’d be amazed if somebody says ‘no, it’s better when you lose’.

“You have to see the defeats sometimes as an opportunity to improve, and the tough times and the bad times are a chance for you to really grow as a person, as a club, as a team, but at the same time winning is better than losing.”

As they head to the Midlands, which the squad did on Friday afternoon as they made the short flight, they could be without up to nine first-team players through injury.

Absolute Chelsea has provided the full list of absentees against Leicester City.

  • Edouard Mendy (fractured finger)
  • Reece James (illness)
  • Thiago Silva (knee)
  • Cesar Azpilicueta (head)
  • N’Golo Kante (hamstring)
  • Mason Mount (lower abdomen)
  • Raheem Sterling (tight hamstring) – doubtful
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (back) – doubtful
  • Armando Broja (ACL)

Potter confirmed James would miss the league clash due to illness which has seen him miss training this week.

Meanwhile, Mount is still not quite ready to turn while Chelsea are targeting a potential return for Kante against Everton next week.

Aubameyang and Sterling are doubts for the game, Potter confirmed: “Raheem has had a little feeling in his hamstring, tightness if anything, so he’s looking doubtful.

“Aubameyang has a slight problem with his back and he’s looking likely he will miss the game.”
