Confirmed Officials: Chelsea vs Real Madrid | Champions League

The officials have been confirmed for Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid have a commanding lead heading into the second leg in west London after a 2-0 win at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio punished a wasteful Blues in a dominant display for the current Champions League holders who are looking to book their spot in the semi-finals as they continue the defence of their European crown.

Chelsea have not won in any of their last six matches (D2, L4), losing all three of their matches since Frank Lampard took over on a caretaker basis earlier this month.

A 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion has piled on the negative atmosphere surrounding Chelsea but Lampard and Co remain focused on putting on a good performance in front of their home crowd as their Champions League hopes hang by a thread.

Real Madrid, who won 2-0 against Cadiz in the fixture sandwiched in between the two quarter-final games, will be looking to come to west London to claim another win over Chelsea to continue their quest for more glory in the Champions League, with the winner awaiting Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.

Now the officials for the European affair have been revealed by UEFA ahead of the quarter-final tie.


Referee

UEFA have confirmed that Daniele Orsato (ITA) will take charge of the meeting in London.

Assistants

Daniele Orsato will be supported by Ciro Carbone (ITA) and Alessandro Giallatini (ITA) on the touchline.

Fourth Official

Maurizio Mariani (ITA) has been named as the Fourth Official for Tuesday’s match, with the referee overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Frank Lampard and Carlo Ancelotti.

VAR/Assistant VAR

Overviewing proceedings will be Massimiliano Irrati (ITA), who has been named as the Video Assistant Referee, with the Assistant Video Assistant Referee being Paolo Valeri (ITA).
