Deadline Day Live: Enzo Fernandez set to sign after Chelsea agree deal but three deals COLLAPSE

The 2023 January transfer window is coming to an end and Chelsea are set for a huge day with at least one arrival and several outgoings hoped.

Chelsea have completed seven signings so far this month, bringing in David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Nuno Madueke and Malo Gusto.

Graham Potter has backed a move for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez, but it remains unclear if president Rui Costa was accept the alternative offer from Chelsea, with the Blues reluctant to trigger the €120 million release clause.

Jorginho, Conor Gallagher and Hakim Ziyech have been linked with move away on the final day of the down, with Tuesday lined up to be a frantic day for the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership.

Chelsea have everything in place for Enzo Fernandez in terms of the paperwork, deal sheet, medical and private jet. There shouldn’t be an issue completing the transfer even if there is no announcement before or at 11pm.

Benfica originally demanded Chelsea pay the full £105 million buy-out clause in Fernandez’s contract in one payment, but they later expressed a willingness to take the fee in three payments spread across two years.

Behdad Eghbali led negotiations with Benfica for Fernandez from London on transfer deadline day and refused to take no for an answer during more than 12 hours of negotiations.

Fernandez will sign an eight-and-a-half-year contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2031.
