Chelsea completed the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica on Deadline Day and all the details of his transfer have been revealed.

The 22-year-old became Graham Potter‘s eighth and final signing of the January transfer window after a long month of negotiating with Benfica.

Fernandez was Chelsea‘s top target for the month, with negotiations dating back to the beginning of January.

A deal was reached with the Portuguese club over a deal in excess of £105 million which is a club record for Chelsea, as well as a British record, surpassing Jack Grealish’s £100 million move to Manchester City in 2021.

Upon his move, he admitted: “I am grateful to Chelsea and its ownership for doing everything they could to make me a part of this project. I’m happy and excited to join the Pride of London, to play in the best league in the world and to compete for the biggest trophies.

“I can’t wait to play in front of our fans and help my teammates on and off the pitch.”

Chelsea have paid £106.8 million to Benfica for Fernandez, it was confirmed in a statement.

This is believed to be in a large sum upfront, with additional installments for the midfielder.
