Everton have submitted a late bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, with a £45 million offer on the table while the Blues have offered £105 million for Enzo Fernandez.

The 21-year-old was said to be the top target for Chelsea earlier in a transfer window but Benfica were reluctant to let him leave for less than his £105 million release clause.

A move for the midfielder may free Gallagher up for a Stamford Bridge exit, if he wishes to pursue a move to Sean Dyche’s Everton, who have made the initial contacts to bring him to Goodison Park.

The Toffees have sold former Chelsea target Anthony Gordon to Newcastle this month and their new boss has been handed the £40 million fee to strengthen his squad.

And now it has been revealed that Gallagher is the player that they are targeting in order to save them from relegation this season.

As reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Everton have submitted a bid for Gallagher with just a day left until Deadline Day.

The Italian reveald that the proposal is £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons for Gallagher.

Chelsea are set to make a decision soon, with other clubs holding interest in the England international, who must also decide on his future.

The Daily Mail have revealed that despite Everton’s interst, Gallagher wishes to remain at Chelsea but could still be told that he has to leave this month.

Gallagher’s potential exit could hinge on whether Chelsea sign Fernandez now, with talks progressing over a move.

Matt Law revealed that the Blues have made a £105 million offer for the Argentinian which includes a big fee upfront followed by five installments.

It remains to be seen as to whether this will be accepted as Deadline Day approaches, with Chelsea sure to be active both in terms of incomings and outgoings before the transfer window slams shut.

Gallagher could become the second academy product to leave the club as it is believed Jude Soonsup-Bell will complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the month.
