Joao Felix doesn’t believe Graham Potter should be sacked as Chelsea head coach despite just three wins in 16 matches (excluding the Aston Villa friendly).

The 23-year-old has made some impact for Chelsea since arriving from Atletico Madrid on loan in January, however he has only scored one goal which came against West Ham United last month after an exquisite ball from Enzo Fernandez.

Felix, along with the rest of his teammates, have been wasteful and that has come to bite Chelsea in games, with opposition teams riding the early Blues pressure before punishing them.

This was apparent in the first leg against Borussia Dortmund when Karim Adeyemi scored on the counter to clinch a 1-0 win for the Bundesliga side heading into Tuesday’s Champions League second leg at Stamford Bridge. Felix had chances of his own in that game but he could only smash his effort onto the crossbar.

As a result of Chelsea’s downfall in recent months, head coach Potter has come under increasing pressure, with many calls from fans to have the 47-year-old sacked.

Potter relieved some of the pressure with a 1-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, however the real test will come against Dortmund.

Many Chelsea players have come out in support of Potter, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek who believes they ‘owe’ the Englishman for him standing by and protecting the squad.

Now Felix has jumped to the defence of the Chelsea head coach and believes the responsibility should be shared equally across the group.

“Yeah, for sure,” responded the Portugal international when asked about the players needing to take responsibility for the decline of results.

“The fault is of course about us and the coach but not even the players have to take all the fault and the coach has to take all the fault. It’s between us. We have to be together and we are.

“We have an amazing group, the coach is with us, we are with the coach, so that’s perfect. The situation will change for sure.”
