Manuel Ugarte is set for a big-money transfer this summer, but to where remains unknown.

The 22-year-old is the subject of interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but it’s claimed Ugarte currently prefers the sporting project at Stamford Bridge rather than in France.

Newly-appointed head coach Mauricio Pochettino has made his desire clear of wanting to sign the Uruguay international this summer as he targets a new midfielder, with work already underway to try to bring him to west London.

However, Chelsea are in a battle with PSG for Ugarte and discussions remain ongoing over the midfielder, who has a €60 million release clause.

Chelsea have been in dialogue with Ugarte’s representative super agent Jorge Mendes over trying to strike an agreement, but nothing of yet has been agreed as a desired deadline of finalising his future nears.

As reported by Record Portugal, here are all the details of the Manuel Ugarte transfer saga.

Transfer offers

Chelsea

  • €60 million – to be paid in five instalments of €12 million
  • €5 million in add-ons
  • Proposal to include David Datro Fofana on loan has already been rejected

PSG

  • €60 million – to be paid in two instalments of €30 million
  • No add-ons

Salary proposals

Sporting CP

  • Current wage: €350,000-a-year (post-tax)

Chelsea

  • €2 million-a-year (post-tax)

PSG

  • €5 million-a-year (post-tax)

It is not stated whether or not the salary packages include bonuses and add-ons.

Next steps

It’s claimed that the latest developments have ‘rebalanced the scales’. Ugarte preferred a move to Chelsea, however the ‘disparity in values’ over salary packages have made the midfielder question his future and what the best decision is.

Ugarte, as per the report, will now see his future resolved in the coming days when new rounds of talks and negotiations take place between the clubs, the Uruguayan and his representatives.
