Mason Mount’s summer stance on Thomas Tuchel reunion at Bayern Munich revealed
Mason Mount is out of contract next summer and with the uncertainty surrounding an extension, the situation is looking all the more precarious.
The England international, despite having a poor season for his high standards, is attracting interest from numerous top clubs across Europe, all of whom are hoping they can tempt the midfielder away from his boyhood club.
As reported by The Guardian, Manchester United and Liverpool are monitoring the situation, with the former tipped as favourites to land the 24-year-old’s signature.
Across the continent, Juventus are also admirers of Mount with the Serie A giants keen to bring a youthful freshness to their midfield.
However, an interesting development in the race for Mount is Bayern Munich’s appointment of former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel and Mount worked together previously at Chelsea and enjoyed a positive rapport, where the Englishmen played over 80 times under the German coaches stewardship, from January 2021 to September 2022.
Chelsea’s number 19 also won back to back Player of the Season awards under Tuchel’s tutelage in the 2021/22 and 2021/22 seasons.
But this season he has returned a relatively meagre output, scoring just three goals and assisting six across 32 appearances in all competitions.
It’s been reported that Mount would be interested in joining Bayern Munich and reuniting with Tuchel if he is unable to agree on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
However, stepping into a somewhat hectic situation of his own, with Bayern currently second in the Bundesliga and facing Manchester City in a mouth-watering Champions League quarter final tie in April, Tuchel’s attention will be firmly aimed towards navigating his new side to an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title and a sixth European Cup win.
Therefore, with attention focused towards on-field decisions, it remains to be seen whether the German coach will make an attempt to reunite with his former star man.
And with the prospect of European glory on the cards for Mount’s current team Chelsea, fans will be hoping he can recapture the form he displayed under Tuchel in Chelsea’s last Champions League winning campaign going into the final stages of the season.
