Mykhailo Mudryk could be in line to return for Chelsea against Leicester City after Graham Potter confirmed his role for the Premier League clash.

The 22-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January in a deal worth up to £88 million, has made six appearances in all competitions so far, although Mudryk is yet to score his first goal for the club.

Mudryk has started just 50 percent of the games he has featured in, including coming off at half-time against Fulham having suffered from illness in the build up to the game which ended goalless at Stamford Bridge last month.

Chelsea have won their last two matches against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund, both of which the Ukraine international has been an unused substitute.

Potter’s side are looking to continue their momentum and make it three wins in a row when they face Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Mudryk will be pushing for a start and Potter has confirmed the youngster will be in the squad against the Foxes.

“He will be in the squad tomorrow and there is a chance he can play,” Potter told reporters on Friday afternoon during his pre-match press conference.

Mudryk’s chances of starting in the Midlands have significantly increased due to Raheem Sterling being a major doubt due to a tight hamstring.

“Raheem has had a little feeling in his hamstring, tightness if anything, so he’s looking doubtful,” confirmed Potter.

It appears the attacker is being eased in after his January move and Potter has been full of praise for Mudryk, who he believes is ‘getting stronger’ as the days and weeks pass.

Potter added: “He certainly comes into the equation (now Sterling is a doubt). He is a player we believe in a lot and is adapting to the new situation.

“When he arrived, he was at the start of a pre-season campaign really. So to come in and hit the Premier League running is not easy to do. But day by day, and week by week, he is getting stronger.”
