N’Golo Kante’s seven-year stay at Chelsea is set to come to an end at the end of June when his contract expires.

Despite being close to penning a new deal at Chelsea, the 32-year-old looks set to leave the club and is on the verge of joining Saudi side Al-Ittihad on a free transfer after delegates flew to England this week to present their official offer.

As reported by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea’s heavily incentivised contract offer was never taken off the table but talks stalled due to Kante suffering another injury, a recurring problem in recent seasons.

Kante has become a fans’ favourite at Stamford Bridge, earning his stripes as a Chelsea legend following his move from Leicester City in 2016.

His time at Chelsea is nearing its conclusion. He didn’t get a send off and a chance to say goodbye on the final day of the Premier League season last month due to his future still hanging in the balance. An unfortunate situation and outcome for an individual held in such high regard in west London.

Kante won the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup at Chelsea, a period of his career which will be looked back on with extreme fondness.

But nobody can begrudge the midfielder for accepting the offer to move to Saudi Arabia to join Karim Benzema, who recently signed from Real Madrid, at At-Ittihad.

What will N’Golo Kante earn at Al-Ittihad?

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Kante will sign a two-year contract with the Saudi side.

It is worth €100 million-a-year until 2025, with the final details of the offer now being discussed before it is accepted.

The offer is inclusive of image rights, commercial deals and a creative ‘investment portfolio’.
