Six Chelsea players pen Graham Potter farewell as Saltor reveals squad’s reaction following Cobham meeting

Many Chelsea players have thanked Graham Potter after he was sacked lees than seven months after taking over at Stamford Bridge.

The 47-year-old was informed of the decision to relieve him from his duties on Sunday afternoon at the club’s Cobham training ground, ending a short spell in the capital despite signing a five-year contract.

Potter only took 11 wins from his 31 games in charge of Chelsea in all competitions, however has left with the Blues still in the Champions League with a quarter-final tie against Real Madrid awaiting next week.

Bruno Saltor, one of Potter’s assistants, has taken temporary charge of the side in his absence after Billy Reid also departed the club.

The players were addressed by sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart on Monday to explain the decision to part company with Potter, as well as to emphasise what they still have to play for this season, according to the latest reports.

On the players’ reactions to Potter’s sacking, Saltor said on Monday during his press conference: “They will be sad as well because they know the level of human being Graham is.”

Many of the Chelsea players began penning farewell messages to Potter, of whom they had worked under for a short period of time, thanking him for his contributions at Stamford Bridge.
