Chelsea host an injury-hit Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this weekend at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side are looking to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United last weekend, which put an end to their three game unbeaten run and saw Reece James handed a second yellow card in the north east.

Brighton are seven games without defeat and secured European progression on Thursday night with a 1-0 win away from home against AEK Athens to book their place in the Europa League knockout stages.

Ansu Fati and Tariq Lamptey will be two of many injury absentees for the visitors on Sunday, with Roberto De Zerbi facing an injury crisis for the fixture in the capital.

Reece James and Marc Cucurella are both suspended. Malo Gusto looks set to miss out due to injury. Meanwhile, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku will undergo late fitness tests to determine their availability.

Pochettino revealed: “We need to assess (on Saturday) and then decide. They are close. But we need tomorrow to make the decision. Maybe Lavia is the more difficult, but we need to assess Christoph.”
