Conor Gallagher has stated that Chelsea are ‘confident’ going into the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool after a resilient draw against Manchester City on Saturday night.

Chelsea were unfortunate not to take three points home to Stamford Bridge, with a late equaliser from Man City midfielder Rodri ensuring the spoils were shared.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will take several positives from that game. The defensive performances from the likes of Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto, as well as the threat they offered on the counter-attack.

Next up comes their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, who are on top of the Premier League and have just had the boost of Mo Salah returning.

Speaking after the draw against City, Conor Gallagher believes the performance is positive for their travels to Wembley next weekend.

“It does,” he told Sky Sports when asked if the game gives Chelsea confidence going into the cup final.

“I feel like the lads are confident. We have had some good performances, and then today against a top team.

“I feel like we are going into the next game with a lot of confidence, and we are excited for it.”

Meanwhile, his boss Pochettino believes that there must be that confidence in order to win the final against Jurgen Klopp’s men, a team that he believes is the second-best in the world.

“We need to feel that is is possible to beat Liverpool,” added the Chelsea manager. “I think we are going to play the second-best team in the world. I think belief is the most important thing, and now we need to recover and prepare for the final.”
