Chelsea vs Brentford: Confirmed team news for Premier League clash

Chelsea take on London rivals Brentford on Saturday afternoon and the confirmed team news is in from the Gtech Community Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues will be hoping their return to Premier League action is a success as they face Thomas Frank’s side away from home.

The last time these two met Brentford were 2-0 victors, Ethan Pinnock scored early on in the second half and the game was wrapped up in the closing moments as Bryan Mbuemo eliminated any chance of an equaliser for the hosts.

In midweek, Chelsea responded from their demoralising Carabao Cup defeat against Liverpool with a 3-2 win in the FA Cup against Leeds United.

The west Londoners conceded early on in that contest but a 90th minute strike from Conor Gallagher saw the Blues secure a place in the Quarter-Finals of the competition, keeping their hopes of a trophy this season alive.

In the Premier League, the picture is not as much of a promising one for Chelsea, currently they sit 11th, so a win against the Bees is crucial if they want to make a late push for a place in Europe next season.
