Chelsea vs Brighton: Pre-season details, how to watch, kick-off time & prediction

Chelsea face Brighton & Hove Albion in the second game of their 2023 pre-season tour of the United States.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side got off to a winning start in America after a 5-0 win over Wrexham, which saw Ian Maatsen (2), Conor Gallagher, Christopher Nkunku and Ben Chilwell get on the scoresheet.

Chelsea now begin a three-game run in the Premier League Summer Series as they face Brighton, Newcastle United and Fulham. First up is Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Pochettino confirmed he will continue to mix the side up throughout pre-season. During his pre-match press conference, the 51-year-old said: “No, we’re going to mix also. Still we have players who need time to train, several like Enzo only arrived on Monday. After a long period of holidays.

“We play Brighton on Saturday. It’s not because we’re going to play a Premier League team I need to play with senior players. We need to care about the players, we need to provide the best tools for him to arrive in the best condition when we start the Premier League.

“I am going to continue the young players the possibility to play on Saturday and the next few games.”

Trevoh Chalobah is a doubt after he came off against Wrexham due to an Achilles problem. Reece James joined up with the squad this week following illness and is unlikely to take part as he gets up to speed.
