Chelsea confirm arrival of two youngsters as Mauricio Pochettino given future stars
Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of Alex Matos and Diego Moreira as they continue to bolster their young talent roster.
Since the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership took over in May 2022, an influx of young stars have been signed with a view for the future at Chelsea.
Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei were brought to the club, while David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Kendry Paez have been recently acquired.
Chelsea’s development plans for these players include Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, who have been acquired by BlueCo – the consortium who own the Blues.
Boehly, Chelsea co-owner, admitted towards the end of last year that a multi-club model was eyed due to them being able to be in control of a player’s development.
With Mauricio Pochettino now at the helm and the signings of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson confirmed for the first-team amid all of the outgoings, work is still being done to strengthen the academy.
As July 1 hit, Chelsea announced the arrivals of Alex Matos and Diego Moreira on free transfers. Matos signs from Norwich City and Moreira has been acquired from Portuguese side Benfica.
