Confirmed Officials: Newcastle United vs Chelsea | Premier League
The officials have been confirmed for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea travel to the north east this week as domestic action resumes following the international break.
Spirits are high in Mauricio Pochettino’s camp following the 4-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur and 4-4 draw against Manchester City earlier this month.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia won’t be available for selection this week despite a return to training at the club’s Cobham training ground.
“Lavia and Nkunku still out,” confirmed Pochettino pre-match on Friday afternoon.
He added: “No, it’s difficult to assess them. They are in a good condition.
“Nkunku is a little ahead of Lavia. Doing things with the group last week, still not full recovery.”
Now the officials for the league meeting have been revealed by the Premier League ahead of the encounter.
Referee
The Premier League have confirmed that Simon Hooper will take charge of the meeting in Newcastle.
Assistants
Simon Hooper will be supported by Adrian Holmes and Simon Long on the touchline.
Fourth Official
Jeremy Simpson has been named as the Fourth Official for Saturday’s match, with the referee overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of Eddie Howe and Mauricio Pochettino.
VAR/Assistant VAR
Overviewing proceedings from Stockley Park on Saturday afternoon will be John Brooks, who has been named as the Video Assistant Referee, with the Assistant Video Assistant Referee being Neil Davies.
