Chelsea confirm fourth & fifth recall as Mauricio Pochettino makes January transfer plan
Chelsea have welcomed back Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Diego Moreira from their respective loan spells.
Moreira, 19, has returned from France after an underwhelming start to the season with Lyon after making the temporary switch to Ligue 1 last summer.
His recall, following the likes of Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei back to Stamford Bridge midway through the season, was confirmed ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg tie against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
A Chelsea statement read: “Chelsea forward Diego Moreira has been recalled from his loan at Ligue 1 side Lyon.”
Moreira has returned to Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad, along with Casadei, and the Chelsea head coach outlining his plans for the duo between now and the end of the season.
“I think we need to assess both now,” Pochettino told reporters on Monday.
“Both came back from their loans. Good potential, they are going to be part of the squad and then the decision will be if they are going to be every single week, every single game, part of the team.
“I think it’s good news. We were suffering too many injuries and to recover players from a loan, I think it’s good for us.”
Meanwhile, Teddy Sharman-Lowe has returned from Bromley after making just four appearances for the National League.
A Bromley statement read: “Bromley Football Club can confirm that goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe has been recalled by parent club Chelsea following his loan spell at the RELOC8 EM Community Stadium.
“The 20-year-old joined the club in the summer and went on to make four appearances, including a start on the opening day away at FC Halifax Town and two further outings in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
“Sharman-Lowe, who also featured against Redbridge in the London Senior Cup, kept one clean sheet during his time with us in a 1-0 victory over Slough Town and saved a penalty during our shoot-out win over Chippenham Town.
“We thank Teddy for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.”
