Chelsea take on Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and the confirmed team news is in from Goodison Park.

Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to see a response from his Chelsea side after their dismal 2-1 defeat to Manchester United. They were well beaten in the north west and were on the receiving end from audible boos from the travelling support.

The Chelsea head coach accepts the criticism and has warned his side to ensure they show fight and care as they look to get results to meet the demands expected.

“If you are at Chelsea, one natural thing that you need to have is the fire,” Pochettino said ahead of facing Everton.

“If not, you know, I think you’re going to struggle all season but I think we need to show that we care. We need to show that we care, to show that we are going to be ready to fight. That is non-negotiable. Football is about a lot of things but we need to start with this.”

He added: “Okay, we are a young team, in the process of building. There can be a lack of understanding of concepts or a need to improve in our build-up or positioning. Those things can grow in time. But going there to run and to fight and to match them in our will – the areas you need to match all the teams – not doing that is unacceptable. We need to work on this.”

Chelsea haven’t beaten Everton consecutively away from home in 15 years, meaning history is against the Blues who are desperate to bounce back at the first attempt.

The Premier League clash will get underway at 2pm (UK time) and will not be available to watch live in the United Kingdom.
