Kai Havertz’s stance on Real Madrid transfer outlined as Chelsea’s asking price revealed
Kai Havertz could leave Chelsea for Real Madrid this summer after three seasons at the club, according to reports.
Real Madrid are on the search for a striker ahead of the 2023/24 season after Karim Benzema’s summer exit was confirmed.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side announced the departure of the forward on Sunday in a club statement, which read: “Real Madrid Football Club and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to bring his brilliant and unforgettable time as a player at our club to a close.
“Real Madrid would like to show our gratitude and affection to a player who is already one of our greatest legends.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Chelsea’s Kai Havertz have been identified as two potential options for Real Madrid, with Ancelotti a ‘big fan’ of the Germany international, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Havertz is out of contract in 2025 after signing a five-year deal when he signed in 2020 from Bayer Leverkusen for a then club-record fee of around £72 million.
He has scored 32 goals in 139 appearances for Chelsea since the switch to England, registering 15 assists.
Mauricio Pochettino is overseeing a Chelsea squad overhaul this summer and whether Havertz is part of the plans remains unclear.
However, Havertz’s time at Chelsea could be coming to an end with Real Madrid looking likely to step up their interest with talks ongoing with the player’s camp over a potential transfer.
Kai Havertz’s transfer stance on Real Madrid move
BILD reports that the transfer is ‘becoming more and more concrete’. Talks are ongoing with his camp.
As reported by Kerry Hau of SPORT1, Havertz has been ‘thinking about saying goodbye from London for a long time because of the constant unrest at Chelsea’.
A switch to Real Madrid ‘excited him very much’, therefore making a transfer likely should the clubs agree a fee.
Chelsea’s reported transfer asking price for Kai Havertz
As reported by SPORT1, Chelsea are likely to ask for around €60 million for Havertz if Real Madrid make a formal move to acquire the 23-year-old.
