Man Utd target Mason Mount makes huge decision ahead of pre-season return amid possible Mauricio Pochettino talks

Mason Mount is ready to report back for pre-season next week when the Chelsea players begin returning to their Cobham training base, according to reports.

The 24-year-old, who is yet to sign a new contract to extend his current deal beyond next summer, has been the subject of three rejected bids from Manchester United.

Mount has reportedly rejected three contract offers from Chelsea since last summer, with the latest coming in February, which was a one-year extension.

Chelsea have countered Man United with a £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons proposal after rejecting their £55 million offer last week.

Man United don’t feel they need to hold face-to-face talks with Chelsea, according to reports, who offered to meet in-person to resolve the matter.

As reported by the Daily Telegraph, the Chelsea squad are due to start reporting back to Cobham next Tuesday, which Mount is likely to be among the initial group, with those who have been involved on international duty having some extra time off before returning.

But Matt Law reports, despite Man United’s current pursuit, that Mount is ‘set to tell Pochettino that he will continue to give everything for Chelsea while he is still a player at the club and that he is prepared to go on tour and work hard ahead of next season’.

Mount has not asked to leave Chelsea, according to the report, and is likely to meet with Pochettino, who hasn’t got involved yet over his future, should he return and still be a Chelsea player once pre-season training commences.

Chelsea will travel to the United States next month to play five matches against Wrexham, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund in preparation for the 2023/24 season.

Man United have insisted they will not increase their offer for Mount and be drawn into a summer-long transfer saga.

Chelsea are set to lose fellow midfielders Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Man City and AC Milan, respectively, while Kai Havertz is close to completing a summer transfer to London rivals Arsenal.
