Mauricio Pochettino will officially begin life as Chelsea head coach from July 1 ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea are just over a week over from reporting back to their Cobham training base for pre-season as they prepare to fly to the United States for their tour of America. It will see Chelsea face Wrexham, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund.

Pochettino is currently overseeing a squad overhaul after the summer window opened. N’Golo Kante has already departed and Christopher Nkunku’s arrival from RB Leipzig has been confirmed.

Many more departures are nearing: Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech are all set to depart in the next week, while Manchester United are vying to sign Mason Mount.

As Pochettino looks to get his squad ready for the new season, which is likely to see Nicolas Jackson sign from Villarreal, he is already able to start planning for his first six opponents.

Four home games and two away games make up the first six league games for Chelsea, which can be considered as a nice set of opening fixtures for the Blues.

Liverpool, Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa head to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues facing southern away trips to London rivals West Ham and AFC Bournemouth.
