Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Moises Caicedo after latest reports revealed that the Brighton midfielder prefers a move to Stamford Bridge over Liverpool.

The news comes after it was reported that Chelsea were set to miss out on their primary target, with Liverpool and Brighton agreeing a £110 million fee for Caicedo.

The Seagulls had placed a cut-off point for bidding on Thursday night, with Chelsea falling short of Liverpool’s offer.

However, now it has been revealed that Caicedo and Chelsea are still pushing to get the transfer completed.

As first reported by Fabrizio Romano, Caicedo informed Jurgen Klopp’s side that he only wants to join Chelsea this summer.

The 21-year-old decided to keep his word to the Blues after agreeing personaly terms back in May.

Furthermore, Romano states that Chelsea are set to bid again in order to complete a deal for the midfielder.

Sky Sports supported this information as they stated that Caicedo rejected the chance to join Liverpool despite having a medical planned.

The expectation was that the player was due to arrive in Liverpool today to undergo his medical tests. However, Liverpool have denied this.

TalkSPORT continued to report on Brighton’s stance, after Chelsea fell short with a £100 million offer at their set deadline.

It is reported that the Seagulls will not accept an offer of less than £111 million that Liverpool agreed for Caicedo.

Chelsea have encouraged the player to stall his medical at Liverpool as they prepare to hijack the move.

It remains to be seen as to what the future holds in the transfer saga, with so many twists and turns already, but everything points to Caicedo becoming a Chelsea player this week.
