Chelsea are hoping to wrap up a deal to sign Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson in the next week, according to reports.

After reports of Chelsea‘s interest surfaced in recent days, an agreement over personal terms was reached between the club and Jackson, as reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Jackson, who almost joined fellow Premier League club AFC Bournemouth back in January, has a £29.8 million release clause and agreed to make the summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Fabrizio Romano has reported Chelsea are discussing the payment structure for Jackson, with the deal set to be paid in instalments. Once a deal is agreed with Villarreal, Jackson will undergo a medical to finalise his switch to west London.

Jackson will bolster Chelsea’s attack under Mauricio Pochettino, who officially starts his head coach duties on July 1, and joins Christopher Nkunku who will make the summer move from RB Leipzig.

With Chelsea ready to activate Jackson’s release clause and the forward ready to swap Spain for England, when will the transfer be completed?

As reported by Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard, Chelsea are aiming to finalise Jackson’s move in the ‘coming days’, with the Blues ‘working hard’ to complete a transfer next week.

Chelsea were targeting a new forward and have acted quickly due to both Aston Villa and AC Milan showing interest in the Senegal international.

Pochettino’s side, who also want a goalkeeper and midfielder, have shown interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, but Jackson is the cheaper option and they have decided to move for the 21-year-old.

Jackson scored 12 goals in 26 league appearances for Villarreal during the 2022/23 season.
