Thiago Silva has sent a message to his former Chelsea teammate Mason Mount, who is celebrating his 25th birthday.

Mount and Silva were teammates at Chelsea following the Brazilian’s transfer from PSG in the summer of 2020 under Frank Lampard.

The duo went onto win the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup together before Mount was sold to Manchester United in a deal worth up to £60 million last summer.

Mount left in controversial circumstances after failing to agree a new contract at Chelsea, a club he had been at since the age of six.

He has been restricted to just 12 appearances in all competitions for United this season due to injury.

As Mount celebrates his 25th birthday, Silva had a message for the England international, writing on his Instagram story: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO MISS YOU!”

Silva’s message comes a day after Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the 1st leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie.

It was a disappointing evening for the Blues who have it all to do in the return leg at Stamford Bridge in less than two weeks time, particularly if they want to reach February’s final at Wembley.

Silva confronted disgruntled supporters who made the trip to the Riverside Stadium, apologising in the process, before taking to social media with a message for the fans.

He wrote: “I am the first one to feel frustration for today’s result. But there is still the second leg and we will give everything to reach the final. We have to be together now more than ever. Thank you for being with us today.”
