Chelsea take on London rivals Tottenham in the Premier League on Monday night and the confirmed team news is in.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues are looking to return to winning ways in the league after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge last weekend against Brentford.

Chelsea cruised to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup by beating Blackburn Rovers in midweek, but against Ange Postecoglu’s Spurs side they will have a tougher test.

Tottenham are currently unbeaten in the Premier League, they have won eight of their opening ten games and will be hopeful of extending their run by getting one over their former manager, Pochettino.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Argentine touched on how it will feel taking on a club he previously was in charge of, he stated: “You are asking me if I am going to be special if we score or if we beat them. For me it will be important if we win because Chelsea need a win because we need the points not because of the game at Tottenham.

“I want to win I want to beat them [Spurs]. When I play with my kids I want to beat them of course, or my dad or my brothers or my friends – I try to kill them.

“But I want to win because we are competitive. And then it is not a special thing. I don’t want to go there and think it is about revenge.”

The 51-year-old was then asked about the connection formed with the two different fanbases, he said: “after four months? I can’t lie [it’s not the same feeling with fans]. I hope we can arrive on the same level that I had at Tottenham. It would mean we’re doing really well here. Of course, I expect one day to be on the same level.”

Pochettino added: “Hopefully, I can stay here [at Chelsea] until I die! 20 or 25 years, but you never know in football…”

The derby will get underway at 8pm BST and will be available to watch on Sky Sports.
