Chelsea have been told who will make the final decision over the future of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana as they search for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino, who will officially begin on July 1, has recommended that Chelsea sign another goalkeeper to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, both of whom face uncertain futures in the capital.

Interest has been expressed in Mike Maignan of AC Milan, who are reluctant to part ways with the France international.

David Raya of Brentford was also of interest but, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of agreeing personal terms with the Spaniard over a move.

Onana has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but talks were only likely to commence once their 2022/23 campaign concluded, which it did on Saturday as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Inter Milan value Onana, who is currently contracted until 2027, at £55 million, according to Andy Dillon of The Sun, and it remains unclear if Chelsea will lodge a suitable offer to the Nerazzurri.

Romelu Lukaku has spent the season on loan at the San Siro and could be used as a makeweight in a transfer, but Onana insists his future is not in his hands but he is open to both staying and leaving.

He told reporters: “I’m so, so happy at Inter. At this professional level you never know what happens.

“I’m available for Inter, they decide and I will accept what they want. I’m happy at Inter.”
