Arsenal are on the verge of confirming the transfer of Kai Havertz from Chelsea this summer after it was leaked on their app.

The 24-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract at Arsenal in a deal worth in excess of £65 million, which will see Havertz leave Chelsea after three seasons at the club.

Havertz, who won the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup with Chelsea, wanted a fresh start and will join Mikel Arteta’s side, who are also in advanced talks to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

Chelsea confirmed the departure of Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City on Wednesday and Havertz’s move across the capital is imminent after it was leaked on social media.

The content for Havertz’s announcement was spotted on the Arsenal app after the Germany international had carried out all of his media duties this week as a Gunner. It included the first interview and announcement video of his arrival in north London.

In the leaked first interview, Havertz was asked how he felt after joining Arsenal from Chelsea.

He said: “It’s super exciting for me personally. I’m so glad to join this amazing club. This club has such a big history and I hope we can achieve lots of things.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the players, the staff. It’s going to be exciting.”

An announcement is now imminent and likely to come within the next 24-48 hours, which will officially bring an end to Havertz’s time at Stamford Bridge. Havertz will wear the number 29 shirt, like he did at Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea.
