Chelsea have been handed a double injury blow after it was confirmed two of their players have suffered injury setbacks.

Positivity has started to increase within Mauricio Pochettino‘s camp as the injury absentees list continued to reduce as the weeks passed, coinciding with their run of three consecutive wins in all competitions.

They have been relatively unscathed during the international break ahead of facing Arsenal on Saturday evening in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. Malo Gusto will return from suspension.

However, Carney Chukwuemeka and Trevoh Chalobah have handed Pochettino a blow after the club confirmed on Wednesday that the pair will go ‘under further review before continuing their rehabilitation’.

An injury statement read: “Defender Trevoh Chalobah and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka have both suffered recent setbacks in their bid to return from respective injuries sustained earlier this season.

“The duo will now go under further review before continuing their rehabilitation at Cobham with the club’s medical staff.”

Reece James is also training individually and now a major doubt to face the Gunners in the capital this weekend.

Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are travelling back to England following international duty with Argentina and Ecuador respectively. Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill returned to Cobham on Wednesday, with all three expected to be fit and available for selection.

Pochettino is set to offer a full update on the squad’s availability when he previews the Arsenal clash later this week.
