Hakim Ziyech will not join PSG on loan until the end of the season after the LFP didn’t approve his temporary switch to Paris following an appeal.

The 29-year-old was pushing through a six-month loan move to PSG on deadline day and Chelsea finally reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 side over a straight loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.

Ziyech travelled to Paris on Monday evening and spent Tuesday undergoing his medicals while waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement.

After a day of negotiations, Chelsea finally agreed to the conditions of a loan and the race was on to get the paperwork completed and submitted in time.

However, despite it looking like the deal was set to go through, it was revealed Chelsea had sent the wrong documents on three occasions meaning a deal appeared to be dead.

Ben Jacobs reported PSG were left fuming with Chelsea’s errors which saw Ziyech stranded in the club’s offices late on Tuesday night. Ziyech was disappointed and PSG turned their attention to lodging an appeal with the LFP to try to see if they could force through a move.

The hearing took place at 10.30am local time in France (9.30am UK), but it wasn’t good news for PSG. As reported by Telefoot, the LFP didn’t approve Ziyech’s loan move to the Parc des Princes.

Ben Jacobs reported that the confidence was low and now PSG have learned the definitive outcome which is bad news.

It was a frantic end to the January transfer window as Chelsea managed to clinch a £106.8 million deal to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

Chelsea struck an agreement around an hour before the deadline and managed to lodge all the paperwork in time.

Their focus on their club record deal saw mistakes be made for Ziyech, while deals for Omari Hutchinson to join West Brom on loan and Xavier Simons to make his Hull City loan move permanent also collapsed at the very end.

PSG and Ziyech have been punished for Chelsea’s mistakes, and now the Moroccan will return to Graham Potter’s side.
