Edouard Mendy has penned a goodbye message to Chelsea and its fans after completing a £16 million transfer to Al-Ahli.

The 31-year-old, who made 105 appearances for Chelsea, signed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League side, which ended a three-year stay in London.

Mendy played a crucial part in their Champions League-winning campaign in 2020/21, with the Blues also winning the Super Cup and Club World Cup during his time at the club.

But Mendy lost his number one spot at Chelsea and ultimately was allowed to leave as they look to recoup some of the money they paid Stade Rennais in 2020 to bring him to west London.

The Senegal international thanked the fans, his teammates and those who played a part to bring him to the club three years ago.

He also wished the club well moving forwards and wished Chelsea ‘continued success with the new owners and numerous titles in the years to come’. A class farewell from the goalkeeper.
