Conor Gallagher is a big fan of Mauricio Pochettino and has made it clear he wants to stay at Chelsea despite interest from Borussia Dortmund.

The 23-year-old played his first full season for the Blues in the 2022/23 campaign after previous loan spells at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.

While it was a difficult season for Chelsea, Gallagher had some good moments, with the highlight of his year coming at Selhurst Park where he scored a 90th minute winner that was also his first senior goal for the west London side.

Premier League clubs such as West Ham United and Newcastle United have been keen to sign the midfielder, with German side Borussia Dortmund also interested, but it looks as though he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea went through three different head coach’s last season, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Frank Lampard, but there is a new man in charge for the upcoming season and Gallagher is a fan.

51-year-old Mauricio Pochettino has taken the reigns and Gallagher is hopeful of getting the opportunity to impress the Argentine.

As reported by the Evening Standard, Gallagher spoke about the new head coach, he said: “He’s a top manager, everyone at Chelsea is happy he’s here and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss has a rich history of developing young talent and turning them into superstars, which could explain why the midfielder is excited to learn from him.

In the upcoming season, the priority for Gallagher and Chelsea is to return to much better form and recover from what was a horrid season.
